Comfort Inn Keynote and presenter is Kim Campbell Kim Campbell has been a middle level geography teacher for the past 16 years and still loves it!! She is a native of South Dakota and a graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. Kim also has her administration degree from Wayne State University in Wayne, Nebraska. Kim is very involved in her school and has a variety of roles. Currently, she is a part-time Mentor Teacher who helps new teachers in her school district. The other half of her job is a part-time geography teacher for 7th graders. Kim is also a team leader, a member of the Equity Team, and a member of the Literacy Team. Kim recently started an after school program called Students on Academic Rise (SOAR). SOAR is a program for students who demonstrate academic potential and live in poverty. In 2004, Kim was a semi-finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year, and was recently chosen by the local TV, Fox 9 News, as one of their nine “Top Teachers” of the year. She has also been published in the New England Journal for Middle Schools on literacy strategies across the content area and in Middle Ground on ways to effectively implement homework. Kim is currently a consultant for the National Middle School Association and has traveled the country facilitating workshops for middle level educators.
