Kim is also a team leader, a member of the Equity Team, and a member of the Literacy Team.  Kim recently started an after school program called Students on Academic Rise (SOAR).  SOAR is a program for students who demonstrate academic potential and live in poverty.  In 2004, Kim was a semi-finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year, and was recently chosen by the local TV, Fox 9 News, as one of their nine “Top Teachers” of the year. She has also been published in the New England Journal for Middle Schools on literacy strategies across the content area and in Middle Ground on ways to effectively implement homework.
