Educational Excellence Grant Application
Due: May 1, 2008
Notification of rejection or acceptance of application: July 2008
The SDAMLE Board of Directors will provide about Three (3) Five
Hundred Dollar ($500) grants to be presented to South Dakota Middle
School Teachers (or group of teachers) currently employed at least .5 FTE in
an organized middle school or junior high. The applicant is required
to hold current membership privileges with the SDAMLE. Interested
and qualified teachers should submit an application to be reviewed and
accepted by SDAMLE Board of Trustees.
Grant winners will be required to present materials (breakout session) at
the SDAMLE State Conference
or regional conference location and dates TBA at a later date .
Please be aware that a main goal of SDAMLE is to address school
improvement initiatives that center on NCLB compliance and promote the
utilization of strategies proven by Scientifically- Based Research for
students in Grades 5-9. Grant Proposals including projects that are aligned
with NCLB and the improvement of Reading and Mathematics instruction will be
given special consideration .
Every effort will be made to encourage broad involvement among all
membership statewide so that there may be equal opportunities for all
membership to participate in grant work.

A statement of support from the administration of school
The entire application should be limited to no more than 3 pages.
Please supply three (3) copies of your grant application to SDAMLE.
Please attach a brief narrative responding to the following statements:
Give a summary of exactly what you are proposing to do with this
grant. Please describe what your final product will be.
Describe the impact this project will have on the teaching and
learning process in your classroom and promote the effective
instruction of middle school students.
Describe how you will implement the final product into your
classroom and how will you share this with other teachers in the
state.
Describe what educational improvements your middle school can
realize if this grant is completed and implemented.
Grant Applications (three (3) copies) should be postmarked by May 1,
